The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is proceeding this year on a range of improvements at Fuller Recreation Center and Fuller Park.
The first phase of work requires the recreation center to close following its regular hours on Saturday, April 4. This work includes:
• Renovations to restrooms on both floors to meet federal accessibility standards, including exterior work on the building's south side (see number 6 in the image below)
• Building-wide asbestos abatement and floor replacement
• Updates to the kitchen and arts/crafts room
Construction began Monday, April 6 and continues through August.
Park facilities that will close:
• Recreation center
• Parking lot (for use by construction contractors)
• Wading pool (due to construction activity in and around the recreation center)
Park facilities to remain open:
• Playground
• Playing field
• Basketball court
Alternative recreation centers and wading pools: Lynnhurst Park, Pearl Park and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park are closest to Fuller Park; all have both recreation centers and wading pools.
Plans for Phase 2 work beginning in September
This work includes accessibility upgrades to the park on its north side (numbers 2 and 3 in the image below) and a new gathering space near the pool (7 and 8). Additional details on this phase will be shared this summer.
