SSCO CELEBRATES 50 YEARS
The Stevens Square Community Organization’s 50th anniversary and Red Hot Art Fest are set for June 21, 2025 from 1-6 p.m. in Stevens Square Park. There will be 15 small local artists persent and community members can collaborate on art. Play basketball games with Don’t Shoot Guns Shoot Hoops, play lawn games, check out food trucks, blow bubbles with The Bubble Baron, get face-painting and balloon art, and more. Get there for free with a free Metro Transit pass available on the SSCO website.

TRAIL CLOSURES
The segment of the Cedar Lake Regional Trail between Royalston Avenue and Azine Alley (just west of West River Parkway) is closed into mid-summer to complete work on the Green Line Extension in the area beneath Royalston Avenue. Detour information is on the detour maps page. The segment of the Cedar Lake Trail east of Van White Memorial Boulevard remains closed and is anticipated to reopen in late 2025. Cedar Lake Trail from Bryn Mawr Station to Van White Memorial Boulevard is open. The Kenilworth Trail from the Midtown Greenway to Bryn Mawr Station in Minneapolis remains closed and is anticipated to reopen in late 2025.

THE PRAIRIE ENTHUSIASTS FORMS
The Prairie Enthusiasts (TPE) is thrilled to announce the formation of a new chapter of grassroots volunteers in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area: the Minnesota Oak Savanna Chapter. The new chapter serves Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Isanti, Ramsey, Scott, Sherburne, and Wright Counties. The public is invited to the launch celebration on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the Richardson Nature Center (8737 E. Bush Lake Road, Bloomington). This drop-in event will feature presentations about TPE and the new Minnesota Oak Savanna Chapter, prairie walks, engaging activities and games, and refreshments. The short film Landscape Stories, Helen Allison Savanna will be on view. Guests are requested to RSVP at ThePrairieEnthusiasts.org/Minnesota-Oak-Savanna

BOOK FEST, ANNUAL MEETING, MOVIE IN PARK
Learn about the Lyndale Neighborhood Association, vote for new neighborhood board of directors, and check out the Lyndale Book Fest for free books on Monday, July 7, 6-7:30 p.m. at Painter Park (620 W 34th St). Enjoyo food from Valerie’s Taqueria (rice, beans, chips, and guacamole). Bring the whole family and stay for Movies in the Park starting at 9:05 p.m. to see “Mufasa.”
