I’m the aunt of a kindergartener at Annunciation. When I first heard the news last August and knew she survived, I felt in one moment the strongest relief I have ever felt, and at the same time, understood how close I had been to the loss of my beautiful niece.
But gun violence does not represent a moment in time. It's an issue that will affect many of us throughout our lives in ways that cannot be taken back. My niece and the families of Annunciation will live with the deaths, injuries, and horror the rest of their lives.
I am asking Minnesota lawmakers to pass meaningful gun safety legislation this session. Children deserve to be safe. Do not let any more of them suffer the mistakes of adults.
Please act now.
