A note from the Whittier Alliance reposted on Southwest Voices
This is Anna with Whittier Alliance. Like many of you, we have been following the standoff at 28th and Nicollet throughout the day today. We are glad to see the suspect has been taken into custody, and no one was injured or killed.
At the same time, we are deeply saddened by this new instance of violence and chaos along Eat Street. This is a time when kids should be getting ready for the last day of school tomorrow and neighbors should be grilling outside—not holed up waiting for news.
If you would like a gift link to the day’s live updates via the Star Tribune, you can click here.
We will touch on this incident at tomorrow’s Annual Meeting (6:30 p.m. tomorrow, 6/10, at Whittier Elementary) as we think about how Whittier Alliance can best support neighbors.
We also encourage you this weekend to support the businesses along this stretch of Nicollet, which have already been deeply impacted over the past six months.
We love and care about you. If you need mental health or emotional support, you can always call the 988 Minnesota Lifeline. If there are additional resources that would be helpful at this time, please reply to this email to let us know.
